THE LEFT AND ITS BOGEYMEN

It would seem that over the past few years, the nation has been in the grips of spasmodic bouts of hysteria.  Every issue brought to the forefront is greeted with outlandish accusations and wild eyed responses. On television, hosts and guests ranging from politicians to various kinds of celebrities do not hesitate to make demagogic claims without providing any evidence.  These assertions are then received by an excessively nodding panel who applaud with great enthusiasm these baseless declarations.  The phony diatribes the populace has digested over the years are a broken record of worn out, unconfirmed claims, ranging from Russian collusion, to the world will end  in 12 years due to climate change, to the greatest threat the country faces in the contemporary period which comes from all things  “white supremacy!” Wow!  That’s quite a claim since we live in a world confronted by a hostile Iran, Russia and most importantly China!  That’s just the international scene!  What about what’s going on here at home?  It seems the out of control debt and deficit might raise some eyebrows, as well as the rising number of fatherless households.  Evidently not, because according to President Joe Biden during his 2023 commencement address at Howard University, those topics are all for naught and it is white supremacy that threatens the nation.  In a veiled reference, Biden alluded to former President Trump and MAGA as primary culprits for this phenomenon.  Evidence?  None forthcoming except for the long ago refuted Charlottesville example.  But it is not the President alone who constantly gas lights the public.  The media plays a significant role such as the online publication The Conversation whose motto is “academic rigor journalistic flair” makes the outlandish argument that MAGA is secretly an attempt to recreate a Southern style Jim Crow form of government and society.  The words just fly off the pages but demonstrably missing is any reference to facts to support its position.  You would think with such a bold claim, there would be a litany of facts to back up this assertion.  Not surprisingly, none are forthcoming.  So much for the motto of academic rigor.  So what is the basis of this argument?  Jim Crow laws were a series of statues in the southern states which legally separated the white and black races and kept the latter in a secondary status by limiting the exercise of individual civil rights and civil liberties.  During the first Trump Administration and throughout the union in MAGA friendly state administrations, there is no evidence to suggest any such action was or is taking place. It is a libel or a slander!  But the demagogues will continue the onslaught by firing back citing the infamous CRT, or otherwise known as Critical Race Theory.  Critical Race Theory classifies the population by race and gender, dividing the society between the oppressor and oppressed class or group.  In this context it argues, people of color are being oppressed by the dominant white population.  Therefore, it is not just the people but the institutions which are tinged by racism.  But in America, in terms of income and education, certain Asian groups are now the benchmark and most urban areas are governed and policed by people of color.  The institutions of society have been used by minorities or people of color for their material and political benefit.  Therefore, there must be other factors which serve as the real basis of this malicious attack of white supremacy.  How about politics or holding onto power?   Of course, for the Left that is the basis of all reality and if the agenda is faltering rely on hyperbole and hysteria.  Recent polling suggests Trump has the support of 30% of African-Americans and half of Hispanics.  This is unprecedented in recent electoral history and could spell a devastating defeat for the Left in the upcoming election. Currently, the Leftist agenda is in the midst of a free fall and the voters are in a foul mood.  Economically, inflation is at its highest point in forty years.  Massive government expenditures on left wing causes such as the Green New Deal boondoggle have been a significant factor in causing this inflation which has led to a decline in real wages.  But that is certainly not all.  A dramatic rise in crime in the era of defunding the police has caused many large urban areas such as New York City and San Francisco to see residents and enterprises flee to safer confines.  Such a phenomenon causes major economic and social havoc.  As the Leftist agenda craters, how does it keep two of its major constituencies,  African-Americans and Hispanics in tow?  Hmm!! Oh yes.  The opposition Republican Party and its MAGA allies support “white supremacy” and what is your best protection against such hostility is to continue voting Democrat.  Thanks to propaganda such as CRT and The Conversation, as well as others, the Left may not be able to provide voters with a workable agenda which benefits its constituents, so instead it will strike fear in voters, especially people of color, that the opposition wants to turn the clock back to the era of the Jim Crow South.  In the meantime, turn up the hysteria, label the opposition racists and blame every slight on the white supremacist bogeyman!
